Founder and President
Gabe Crocker founded Crocker Design Group in 2018 with the goal of becoming the region’s go-to civil engineering and design solution for complex and challenging projects. Since then, he has built a highly experienced team and a broad roster of clients, many of whom have worked with him for more than 25 years. Gabe began his career as a project engineer, quickly advancing to project management and executive leadership roles at multi-disciplinary engineering firms. In the mid 2000’s, he successfully led large-scale master-planned developments for regional and national clients in Florida. Since returning to Massachusetts in 2009, his focus has been large-scale, master-planning, design and permitting for complex commercial and residential development communities. Known for his expertise in the field, Gabe frequently provides expert testimony.
Gabe is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in Massachusetts, Maine, Florida and Rhode Island and a Massachusetts Licensed Construction Supervisor (CSL) and USGBC LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Outside the office, Gabe loves spending time with his family, traveling to warm locations in the winter, and spending time on the family boat in the summers in Scituate Harbor.

Shane supervises all land surveying activities at Crocker Design Group, working on extremely complex survey projects while leading a group of office and field technicians through the day-to-day challenges of the industry. Over the past 30 years, Shane has worked on a broad range of projects for clients within the aviation, coastal, commercial, residential, municipal, and utility sectors. He routinely prepares contracts, performs site inspections, prepares due diligence reports, performs complex title research, reconciles difficult title issues, prepares/proofs easement documents, performs difficult boundary calculations, and drafts plans. He also provides technical support to engineering staff, outside engineers, architects, attorneys, municipal officials, utility company representatives, and other real estate professionals.

Maggie is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in Massachusetts and a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional. Over the course of her career, she has provided civil engineering, stormwater, planning, and design for a broad range of institutional, municipal, and commercial projects. Maggie specializes in tailoring sustainable stormwater management techniques to site-specific conditions. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Merrimack College and a Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from M.I.T. Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters.

Taylor Corsano joined the Crocker Design team as employee number two in 2018. She received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UMass Dartmouth in 2014 and is a licensed Massachusetts Soil Evaluator. She has ten years of engineering experience and an in-depth understanding of the land use and development industry and puts her strong organizational and management skills to work as project manager for Crocker’s largest client portfolio. Outside the office, Taylor enjoys spending time with her family and her two English bulldogs, Ceelo and Oakley.

David Newhall, P.E.

Dave Newhall has been at Crocker Design Group since 2020, and has extensive experience in the design, management, and permitting of residential and commercial projects throughout Massachusetts. He has been involved in all phases of projects, including due diligence and feasibility studies, land survey, soil suitability assessments, site design, grading, stormwater management and drainage analysis, state and local permitting, and construction administration services. Dave received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Villanova University. He is a licensed Soils Evaluator and System Inspector and a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Outside of work, Dave enjoys spending time at the beach, walking his dog through the many trails of New England, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Alex Szabo brings more than 20 years of experience to his work as a design engineer at Crocker. He moved to the U.S. from Romania after graduating from the Polytechnical university of Cluj-Napoca, College of construction engineering in 1996 and quickly adapted to life in the “New World.” His adaptability and eagerness to learn are strengths he brings to his work as a designer. The part he finds most satisfying about his job is seeing a project that he began at from conceptual level and turned into a finely detailed blueprint, winning validation from colleagues, project owners, and elected officials. Alex enjoys rugby, skiing, and soccer, although as the proud father of two young girls, he spends more of his time of late in the world of fairy tale princesses and ballerinas.

Josh joined Crocker Design Group in 2022 as a Senior Project Engineer, bringing 6 years’ experience in site development and permitting. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and is a licensed Massachusetts DEP Soil Evaluator and System Inspector. He also has a background in small coastal engineered structures, specializing in residential piers and armored revetments. At Crocker, Josh assists the engineering division with all aspects of residential and commercial site design, including stormwater and wastewater management, roadway design, and utility layout. On the back end of site design, Josh also assists clients with permitting efforts on the state, local, and federal levels. Outside of the office, Josh can be found golfing on local courses and spending time with family and friends.

Chris Mulrey has more than eight years of experience in the planning, design, and permitting of residential and commercial projects in eastern Massachusetts. He has worked on a variety of projects, including stormwater management, on-site septic design, environmental permitting, and Mass DEP compliance. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is a registered Title V System Inspector and Certified Stormwater Inspector. In his spare time Chris enjoys golfing, hiking, and snowboarding.

Matthew Collins has nearly a decade of experience in the engineering field, including professional site inspections on major Boston construction sites and civil site development throughout Massachusetts. He was initially drawn to a career in civil engineering because of his love of problem solving, and the satisfaction he takes in seeing tangible evidence of finished products. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and an MBA from Fitchburg State University. He is also a certified Engineer in Training (EIT) and soil evaluator. Having started out on a survey crew, Matthew has done almost every job in the house. These days, he spends most of his time designing and drafting community developments, taking projects from the preliminary phases through town hall hearing presentations, and coordinating with contractors through construction. An avid Boston Sports fan, Matthew enjoys playing golf and men’s league hockey, and loves spending time with his wife and daughter.

With over 25 years in the field of professional land surveying, Vinny brings a broad range of experience to his work. He manages all aspects of survey assignments, including scope, schedule, budget, and plan production. Vinny also prepares mapping products that include residential, commercial, municipal, and land court plan submittals. Performing field surveys, construction layout, and AutoCAD plan preparation are Vinny’s passions, and his attention to detail also results in a high-quality product. After hours, Vinny enjoys spending time with family, friends, and co-workers.

James MacLellan is a graduate of Blue Hills Regional Vocational Tech High School and has an associate degree in science/CAD design. Drawing on 25 years of experience in survey and 12 years of experience in civil engineering, he drafts survey plans, designs sites, and provides CAD design software support and mentoring to his colleagues at Crocker. James is passionate about site design, and especially enjoys determining the best use of land with a flowing traffic pattern, using corridors to understand roadway design, and designing 3D grading and pipe networks to use that proposed grading. When not at work, he can be found using his woodworking skills in home construction projects, playing guitar, reading fantasy and sci fi novels, watching sci fi movies, and spending time outdoors.

Schuyler joined Crocker Design Group after graduating from The University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After beginning his career as an engineer, he pivoted to the survey department, overseeing field operations and office technician work. This change was driven by his passion for the outdoors and his aptitude for problem solving on the fly. Schuyler prides himself on seeing the bigger picture and working to simplify complex situations. His favorite parts of the industry are deriving challenging boundaries as well as teaching the younger generations about survey practice. When not in the office, you can find Schuyler returning to Vermont for skiing and hiking excursions or on the Massachusetts coast sailing laser boats.

Kevin Barros, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, chose civil engineering as a career because it affords endless opportunities to learn and to find paths to the areas that interest him most. He works closely with survey, and is regularly in the field doing existing condition, wetland topo, and boundary survey. He also has a strong interest in design and CAD drafting and brings that perspective to his surveying. Outside of work, you can find Kevin hiking, snowboarding, kayaking, and camping, or heading out to go dancing or check out new restaurants with friends.

Fred Jardim holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He joined Crocker Design Group in 2023, and performs a variety of tasks, including performing surveys, drafting plans, and conducting research for projects. He enjoys drafting and designing and always appreciates the opportunity spend time outdoors when surveying. Fred enjoys fishing and playing soccer in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.

Matt O’Neill has always had an interest in design, especially on large-scale projects, and thrives on being part of a team. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Westfield State University and associate degree in architecture and building technology. At Crocker, he drafts and designs concept plans, grading and drainage plans, and utility plans, and puts together plan sets for submittal while working with the staff engineers. Matt is known for his attention to detail, his conceptual design skills, and problem-solving abilities. After hours, he stays as active as he can, playing soccer and basketball, skiing, and traveling.

Heather joined Crocker in 2021, bringing more than 15 years of experience in business management and human resources. She received a bachelor’s degree in business management at Franklin Pierce University, and later held senior roles within CVS pharmacy and BJ’s Wholesale Club. In the next phase of her career, she served in a business operations role in the dental industry for seven years. Today, Heather is now the go-to at Crocker Design Group for numerous day-to-day operations, working closely with Gabe to ensure the business runs smoothly. In her free time, Heather enjoys traveling, staying active, managing her vacation rental properties, and spending time with her dog, Zane.

Christopher is a recent graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology. From an early age, he was fascinated by major construction projects, and is now excited to be a part of these types of projects all over the commonwealth with Crocker. Known and appreciated for his work ethic and eagerness to learn, Christopher performs a variety of tasks both in the office and in the field, doing site visits for project engineers. Outside of work, he enjoys playing sports, especially soccer.
